Dear Friends and Colleagues,
For many, this has been the hardest year in living memory. We now find ourselves in a new world. We have had to find new ways to learn, new ways to work, and new ways to connect and build relationships. We believe in the power of convening people, whether virtually or in person. In true CogX style, we are doing everything in our power to come together in June, and revive the unique joy of gathering and meeting.
That conviction drives what we do and it’s the motor behind CogX, our biggest moment of connection each year. I’m delighted to announce that CogX festival will return for 2021 as a hybrid in-person and virtual gathering in King’s Cross from 14th – 16th June, with loads of opportunities to connect.
The first hybrid festival of its kind
In 2019 we took over 2 million square feet of London’s phenomenal King’s Cross estate. In 2021, we’re returning there to the heart of the Knowledge Quarter with its hub of technology and innovation organisations including the Francis Crick Institute, British Library, Wellcome Trust, Google and more. Across multiple sites and through its vast outdoor spaces, we’ll be exploring the question: How do we get the next 10 years right?
This year will see the return of some of our most popular features:
- The Global Leadership Summit
- The fifth edition of the CogX Awards
- Extraordinary breadth of content and topics
- An expo to discover and explore
- Intelligent and serendipitous Networking
First release: 1,000 in-person passes
We would love to gather 30,000 people there over the 3 days of the festival. In less disrupted times, there would be ample room for everyone. Health and safety these days is a different matter however and we need to protect our audience, colleagues, suppliers and neighbours as our very first priority. Rest assured that we will be releasing tickets only when we can be sure we can gather safely.
For now, we are releasing a strictly limited number of 1,000 in-person passes. We expect them to sell out quickly. We’re also offering free Standard Virtual tickets so that anyone, anywhere can tune in online.
In any case, we fully expect the famed intelligent networking for which CogX is known to be present and more prominent than ever before.
Rest assured, we have a Plan B
2020 was a lesson in how to pivot. If the health situation prevents us from going ahead with an in-person gathering, we will offer a full refund, or 2 passes to our 2022 festival. We will make a final decision on Friday April 16th.
What’s in store
2020 has been a year of great change. Some of the issues we’ll be reflecting on include: How can we prepare for future pandemics? What does the revival of Iran’s nuclear programme mean for the West? What are the opportunities and pitfalls of digitising the justice system and how can we act to eradicate the death penalty? Above all, we’ll be reflecting on the year that was, exploring how it has changed us and turning the full power of our attention to the urgent issues of the climate emergency, mental health and ethical technology. And through all that we’ll be championing the most innovative solutions.

We learnt a huge amount from CogX 2020 and our weekly CogX Spotlights. Over the years, the team has built, tweaked, run, integrated and designed literally hundreds of meetups, events and expert channels. Now it’s time for our very own platform: CogX.live. For the first time, CogX festival will be hosted on CogX.live. You’ll have to wait a while before we’re ready to reveal its powerful capabilities, but there are ways to get involved today.
One of the great joys of the CogX festival is that hundreds of Content Partners help us bring together the stages, contributing their knowledge, expertise and insights to the agenda and bringing their communities along too.
Calling all Content Partners…
As CogX.live ramps up, we’re calling all Content Partners to join us. If you’re a thought leader or produce your own content, then we want to share our tech, editorial skills, audience, sponsorship sales and marketing with you. If you would like to take an active role and work side by side with us, apply to become a cogx.live launch partner.
We very much look forward to welcoming you and your team in June for the world’s largest gathering of CEOs, entrepreneurs, academics, artists, activists & policy makers working to realise the biggest transformational opportunities of our time.
