Improving Adolescent Lives, Afghanistan (IALA)

Despite adolescents representing a large proportion of the population in Afghanistan, they are largely invisible as citizens, excluded from decisions that affect them and have limited access to information. They also have limited opportunities to acquire and share knowledge and to actively participate in decision-making processes. To address this gap, a consortium made up of the Aga Khan Foundation-Afghanistan, World Vision, and AEPO was formed to implement the Improving Adolescent Lives in Afghanistan (IALA) program, in partnership with UNICEF-Afghanistan between May 2017 and June 2020. The goal of this project was to improve the lives of youth by increasing the autonomy that adolescent girls and boys have over decisions affecting their lives. Watch the video to find out more.
