Jacob Turner is a lawyer and author of Robot Rules: Regulating Artificial Intelligence (Palgrave Macmillan, 2018). He advises governments, regulators and companies on the governance of AI. He recently represented group of Uber and Ola Cabs drivers in a ground-breaking legal case challenging the use of AI to ‘robo-fire’ gig-economy workers.
Jacob has provided training on AI to the judiciaries of the UAE and Singapore and given seminars to the Chinese government and military, at the invitation of the UN. He has lectured on AI at Universities including Oxford, Cambridge, UCLA, Tel Aviv, Singapore Management and the Max Planck Institute, Hamburg. Jacob has law degrees from Oxford and Harvard.
