Editor in Chief
Laura Helmuth is the Editor in Chief of Scientific American. She has edited for The Washington Post, National Geographic, Slate, Smithsonian and Science magazines. She serves on the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine’s standing committee on the science of science communication and is a past president of the U.S. National Association of Science Writers. She serves on the advisory boards of 500 Women Scientists, SciLine, High Country News and Spektrum. She has a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience from the University of California at Berkeley.
